Wild Dress: Clothing & the Natural World
Wild Dress is a thought-provoking new publication on clothing and how it might relate to the natural world.
Written by Kate Fletcher, Professor of Sustainability Design and Fashion at the University of the Arts, London, the book is not so much a straightforward treatise on ethical or sustainable fashion but a collection of essays written over a six-year period that reflect on 'the interdependence between garments and nature as part of life and living.' There's a dearth of this sort of informed writing on the subject and this one is extemely readable, finished off with exquisite images of forest and dales in the north of England. Wild Dress provides a set of observations you'll want to return to time and time again.
