Moving Landscapes is an innovative publication configured by the publisher (Jeu De Paume) to explore imaginative responses to natural spaces and archetypes such as jungle, oasis, sky, desert, forest, and the enduring symbols they evoke.
The book is both a functioning catalogue for and part of Jeu De Paume's 'Moving Landscapes' festival, dedicated to the evolution in the contemporary image, with a programme featuring an exhibition, performances, screenings, evenings and workshops with artists.
Moving Landscapes the book actually consists of two books under one cover. The first features narratives inspired by landscapes, from a sensory journey through the Congo Basin to a boat voyage in Patagonia and an adventure at a glacier's edge, tracing paths of exile and homecoming. The second presents a portfolio of exhibited works with commentaries. Designed to be read simultaneously, the books create unexpected encounters between text and image.
