The Wild Siren is a new literary, art and photography journal based around the workings and trappings of the rock music scene and filtered through what the publisher calls ‘The Rockstar Girlfriend’ aesthetic.
Emma Griffiths, the journal's founder, says it is all about bringing the best things in life to the surface. 'My deep rooted passion since a child has always been music and when ‘The Rockstar Girlfriend’ Aesthetic came about I found a lot of similarities within myself. I started posting on Pinterest with images revolving all around this aesthetic and became enlightened by how many others loved this too.
As time passed I became interested in many more hobbies and I wanted to share more of this with others. I’ve found myself enjoying a slow lifestyle and felt that 'being a Rockstar’ stopped myself from this. Smoking cigarettes and wearing tight clothing and boots wasn’t appropriate for every weekend. I want to lie in a forest and eat local produce from the farmers market. I want to sit in a coffee shop and read Patti Smith. I want to create poems for my loved ones and listen to ocean waves, whilst the sunlight kisses their peaks. Can I really have it all, I asked myself. It’s so hard to align the differing parts of yourself. Because in reality the fleeting versions aren’t parallel. I want to put all my versions into a box and tie it up with a neat little bow. So here is my box. Here is where I can talk about my passions, hobbies, create poetry and short reads, and show my way of life and now I open this up to you too.
The Wild Siren has now transformed magnificently into a magazine as well as a community of like-minded individuals. This is just the start of the journey but it’s a place that will only grow and flourish evermore.'
