The Residential Masterpieces series is a collection of architectural monographs published by A.D.A. Edita Tokyo (Global Architecture) that showcases and explores iconic modern and contemporary houses from around the world. This edition features the Hill House, a villa in Helensburgh, Scotland, designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
Mackintosh designed Hill House between 1902 and 1904 for the publisher Walter Blackie, and was conceived in an innovative manner and is noted for its forward looking design and construction techniques, as well as clear references to Scottish vernacular and baronial architecture. The artist Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh also played a key role in the project designing and making interior elements.
