Pulp, Maxime Imbert

Shot across London during a period of introspection, Pulp is a book by French photographer Maxime Imbert that assembles portraits of individuals, siblings, friends, couples and roommates in their own homes, wearing their own clothes. The result, the publisher says, ‘is a raw yet tender mosaic of unique personalities – an exploration of identity and intimacy at a time when both seemed fragile yet meaningful’.

The project is the photographer’s love letter to a city where he lived for over a decade, capturing its atmosphere and the people who made it feel special. Having gained a BA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins in 2014 and now based in Paris, Imbert’s practice blends fashion photography, documentary and cinematography. His first book, City of Spiders, a Dario Argento–inspired ode to womanhood, appeared in 2019 and his work has appeared in magazines such as dazed, SSAW, System, Double and Re-Edition.
