We haven't been offered anything else like Lunch Lady Magazine, more's the pity, because it's a culinary and visual delight. Busy, detailed, anti-minimal and even nostalgic, Lunch Lady Magazine is, however, vibrant and clear-eyed about its subject matter: food, family and fun.
It's origins are intriguing: editor Kate Berry originally began a Lunch Lady blog when her daughter was bullied at school for eating homemade, healthy lunches. She shared lunchtime recipes to inspire other parents to make similar, healthy lunchbox efforts, which in time developed along themes about family life and parenting. It's all wholesome and appealing in a good way and it's no surprise that the publishing movers behind Lunch Lady are Lara Burke and Louise Bannister, creative and editorial directors of Frankie magazine.
