Unbound is a new volume bringing together a wide-ranging body of work created and collected over the entire span of the decades-long career by the Dutch artist, graphic designer and typographer Karel Martens.
It accompanies Martens’ first solo exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum. Containing works from the show, collaged, overprinted and juxtaposed with elements found around his studio, the book balances between being an artist book and a catalogue and functions as a handbook to his work. It is a collection that is long-overdue and will delight fans of Martens' experimental, exploratory and revolutionary work.
With texts by Thomas Castro, curator of the exhibition and Rein Wolfs, director of the Stedelijk Museum.
