Identity: The Story of Czech Graphic Design collects and displays over a century of Czech graphic design and typography in a 300+ page volume edited by design theorist Linda Kudrnovská.
The book serves as a comprehensive, contemporary record of the creative output from a cultural community living in a politically, socially and visually turbulent region of Central Europe. It examines graphic design and typography through the prism of today’s understanding of quality, without necessarily try to define taste, nor does it attempt to define an ideal connection between visual form and content. The book explores through its various sections ideas and thinking the depiction of public space, the everyday, nationhood and propaganda, media, book culture and beyond.
