Girls Like Us Magazine focuses on bringing our attention to an expanding international community of women from all genders within arts, culture and activism. It is, in their own words, mapping new routes towards a feminist, post-gender future.
The magazine utilises personal stories, essays and provocative imagery to highlight feminist achievement and legacy in arts and writing. Avowedly political and frequently very funny, Girls Like Us is ploughing an intelligently entertaining course through its material like few others right now and we've had glowing reports back from readers at Magalleria.
After a long break the magazine returns with it's 15th issue. Here's the publisher's description:
'Girls Like Us 15 – THE VORTEX', a collaboration with Mothers and Daughters – a lesbian* & trans* bar*. After eight years of operating as a community project for trans and lesbian people in Brussels and around, Mothers & Daughters – A Lesbian* and Trans* Bar* is wrapping up. In preparing for this chapter to close, and thinking of the futures that will open, Mothers & Daughters has created a collective publication in collaboration with Girls Like Us, called THE VORTEX. It brings together new writing, conversations and visual works from the M&D family and allies. It’s our hope that the publication serves as a celebration of Mothers & Daughters, an honouring of those who came before and those who joined us, a vessel for some of our thoughts, an outline of our wild vortex and a gathering place for resources for future trans and lesbian organising in Brussels and beyond.'
