Brooke Holmes' book Francesca Woodman is a study and catalogue published to accompany the exhibition of the same name at Woodman at Gagosian, New York, in 2024.
The exhibition featured more than fifty lifetime prints made by the artist between (approx.) 1975 to 1980, many of which had not been previously exhibited, including three life-size diazotype prints from her Caryatid series and Blueprint for a Temple (II) (1980), the largest work she accomplished in her lifetime. The catalogue illustrates all photographs in the exhibition and features details of Blueprint for a Temple (II).
In her essay 'Francesca Woodman: At the Edge' Brooke Holmes offers a new interpretation of Woodman's work, discussing her photographic representation of the body in space, use of classical themes, and interest in collage and metamorphosis.
