Eye is an exquisitely created quarterly magazine for professional designers, students and anyone interested in design and visual culture. The publishers don't always meet the quarterly deadline so any new Eye Magazine is keenly anticipated.
Founded by Rick Poynor, an eminent writer on graphic design and visual communication, the magazine first appeared in 1990 and has continued to attract the very best editorial leadership and contributors to this day. It offers high level but accessible exploration of the historical and contemporary in design as well as providing informed comment, opinion and reviews of design-related books and exhibitions.
Features for an outstanding Issue 104 include an interview with artist, graphic designer and photographer Peter Knapp, Pentagram designer Luke Hayman's overhaul of The Philadelphia Inquirer, John L. Walters' look at Motion Design, an interview with John Randle (Whittington Press) about the last issue of Matrix, 'a review for printers and bibliophiles’, a close look at a new monograph on midcentury graphic artist Rudolph de Harak, and record sleeve art as showcased by the Album Cover Albums.
