Evan Renaudie: Les Étoiles d’Ivry, A Family Adventure is a guided tour through these iconic buildings designed by two visionary French architects: Renée Gailhoustet, known for her contribution to social housing, and the town-planner, Jean Renaudie. The book, which has the feeling of a family album, is a project by the grandson of Jean Renaudie.
Enhanced by testimonies from different generations, it alternates between archival documents and photographs taken by the author to explore daily life in the atypical social housing that makes the heart of Ivry-sur-Seine so unique. From apartment interiors to the shared spaces, it is a testament to an architecture that is both loved, and loathed but always alive. It offers a iintimate vision of the utopian 1970s from 50 years on, an era that still lives on in the concrete, the terraces and the plants that have slowly invaded the public space of Ivry-sur-Seine.
