Until now Emergence Magazine has been a quarterly online bulletin gathering and binding contemporary threads in ecology, culture and spirituality. It is, in every way, a magazine for now.
The magazine's first print outing was a predictably beautiful and very imposing thing, hand-sewn using a variety of different paper stock and finishes. We didn't think they would top it but both the second issue and third issues are simply breathtaking.
The third volume, 'Living with the Unknown' asks, ‘What does living in an unfolding apocalyptic reality look like? This is on balance an upbeat read, offering ‘a light in the darkness as we transition into the next chapter of our collective future and embrace the reality of living with the unknown’.
Oscar-nominated composer Volker Bertelmann (also known as Hauschka) has created a companion soundtrack for Emergence No 3 which is available to be purchased separately. Hauschka's visceral score offers a potent space to encounter the questions and ideas posed in this volume. Each track corresponds to one of the themes: Initiation, Ashes, Roots, and Futures.
The limited edition 180-gram vinyl LP features artwork by artist Ann Hamilton.
Emergence is already one of the most praised (by readers) magazines in our range.
