The Domestic Encyclopaedia is a collection of stories by artist and author Annee Grøtte in which she explores the material body of architecture, specifically houses.
Grøtte Viken creates a dialogue with the conventional spaces we inhabit in our homes, utilising western and international literature to imagine and give voice to these seemingly mute spaces find and describe characters lying in the bath, dreaming in bed, cooking in kitchens… By articulating the imagined voices of these spaces, she embarks on a poetic journey into the home, ‘this drifting island’.
In the midst of ongoing ecological disaster and increased alienation from nature The Domestic Encyclopaedia invites you to travel beyond the screen, to practice your attention and probe the nature of your domestic space.
