Brutalist London is an architectural guidebook exploring Brutalist and concrete architecture in the capital.
Written by architectural writer, curator and historian Owen Hopkins and shot by architectural photography specialist Nigel Green, the book documents more than fifty buildings across the city and situates London’s post-war architecture within its social, political and cultural context.
From landmark projects such as the Barbican Estate and National Theatre to lesser-known housing, churches and civic buildings, Brutalist London examines how architecture gave form to the ambitions of post-war reconstruction. Hopkins’s text and Green’s photography combine to provide a clear and visually rich account of Brutalist architecture in London and its enduring influence on the city.
Brutalist London is both a reference and a guide for exploring London’s architecture in person and follows Blue Crow Media’s Brutalist Berlin volume.
