Box & Needle

Box & Needle is a book celebrating the store of the same name in Tokyo selling cardboard boxes covered with decorative paper. 

Founded by a long-established papercraft manufacturer in Kyoto, every item in the store is meticulously handcrafted using carefully selected papers from around the world, including those from Italy, Germany, Nepal, the UK, India and Finland.

This collection of objects presents designs by the paper suppliers with whom Box & Needle has worked over the years. While papercraft continues to give ground to digital and other technologies, the appeal, artisanal skill and community spirit of time-honoured design nevertheless endures in its individual locales.
