ASTRA featured fiction, poetry, comics, art and narrative non-fiction from names around the world. An impressive new entrant at the top of literary publishing, ASTRA only saw two sold out releases ('Ecstasy' and 'Filth') before parent publishing house (APH) pulled the plug on the third issue while still in production at the end of 2022.
Edited by Nadja Spiegelman, ASTRA Magazine published a borderless and vital mode of reading, with a focus on literature in translation and original writing in English, with a stated focus on 'the overlaps, the in-between and the authors who defied easy categorisation'.
Authors published include Ada Limón, Brontez Purnell, Catherine Lacey, Chinelo Okparanta, Daniel Saldaña Paris, Don Mee Choi, Dorthe Nors, Edmund White, Elif Batuman, Fernanda Melchor, Jos Charles, Kate Zambreno, Katharina Volckmer, Kim Hyesoon, Leslie Jamison, Maggie Millner, Madame Nielsen, Mariana Enriquez, McKenzie Wark, Mieko Kawakami, Ottessa Moshfegh, Rachel Mannheimer, Raven Leilani, Samuel R.
