Angelo Mangiarotti/Giorgio Casali: Framing the Project explores the work of the Italian architect and industrial designer Angelo Mangiarotti through Giorgio Casali’s photography, placing it in dialogue with the contemporary world.
The book is focused on both Casali’s rich photographic archive – an essential visual record of 20th-century architecture and design – and a series of interviews with designers, architects, photographers and academics who either knew Mangiarotti or consider him a major influence. These contributors include Fulvio Irace, Paolo Ulian, Franz Graf, Martino Gamper, Konstantin Grcic, Giulio Iacchetti and Fumihiko Maki.
Casali’s images offer both revealing insights into Mangiarotti’s cultural references and unexpected glimpses into the contexts of their collaborations. The volume also features a previously unpublished interview with Mangiarotti and critical essays by Beppe Finessi and Angelo Maggi.
