All Roads Lead to Punk is a memoir by Genevieve Schorr, founding member of Backstage Pass, renowned today as one of the earliest punk bands from Los Angeles. Her unusual and entertaining book reads like a lost diary trapped in a punk house time capsule from the era.
Schorr lived and breathed rock’n roll growing up like many teenagers at the time but what set her apart was forging her unique band (female musicians with the exception of a few male drummers) so early in the punk timeline, eventually evolving from a musician into a notable professional rock’n roll stylist to the stars. Crossing paths with such wildly diverse characters such as The Screamers, The Mumps, Dr. Feelgood, The Damned, The Quick, Jon Stewart, Jim Carrey, The Bangles and Linda Ronstadt, All Roads Lead To Punk provides a window on a wild life and career journey complete with tales of dereliction and unsuspecting victories along the way.
All Roads Lead To Punk contains a foreword by writer, musician and actress Pleasant Gehman and comes with a limited edition Backstage Pass 7″ single featuring the original 1977 studio recordings of ‘Legend (Come On Up To Me)’ (immortalised by Redd Kross’s version in Desperate Teenage Lovedolls) b/w ‘Let Me Show You Love’, the debut 7″ that never was…
