A Work Will Be Shown is a selection of artist exhibition announcements and invitations from a collection created by the Italian artist Maurizio Nannucci who began acquiring this fascinating ephemera in the 1960s.
Since that decade of radical avant-garde art movements, Nannucci – a contemporary artist of significant stature – has kept and continuously enlarged this collection alongside his own art practice. Taken together this book is not just a record of exhibition announcements by the artist’s friends and colleagues, it is also explores the lesser known creativity that today's artists bring to their work.
The book is conceived along the lines of cosmogony – the study of the evolutionary behaviour of the universe – with multifaceted imagery, texts, photography, typography, colours and different papers that artists often apply as a free means of information to be physically mailed around the globe.
