Altered States is a new magazine about cultural innovation and authenticity.
It does describe itself as a 'beauty publication' but we're not talking Marie Claire here but something closer to the curiosity of, say, the wonderful Beauty Papers, but without the studio and art stylings. Rather, this 200-page, 500 copies-only project is an intriguing collage of editorial, photo essays and archive photography examining what the creators determine 'the authentic niches and artistic experiences' within hair and beauty. We think they have something here, and we really like it.
