On the surface of it Victory Journal is a showcase of sport photography. But dip into a few pages youll realise were talking about something much more monumental.
There's the size of it for one thing. Across its imposing (28cm x 42cm) pages a cast of top flight contributors deliver reportage, award-winning photography and illustration to describe the highs and lows, the pain and the glory, and of course the sheer physicality of sport.
The aesthetic of Victory looks past the carefully managed appearance and profiling of today's sporting heroes to an age when sports coverage was a bit more raw and rough around the edges. From the rodeo circuit to the tennis court, the locker room to the chess board, women's ice hockey to football cheerleaders somehow it's all here.
