Ellen von Unwerth flys the flag for a certain brand of bold, playful and provocative image narratives. Her vision, in her own words, is 'big and wild' and that's exactly what Von is.
It's the first magazine from this German model-turned-photographer who doesn't like 'staged' photography. Von illuminates this approach, launching first as a 'Fight issue' around female strength and sensuality. It's all black and white with declamatory typography, glossy and somehow redolent of the 1980s, but its anti-studio, authentic location work amplify von Unwerth's trademark 'reportage' vibe. It won't be everyone's cup of tea but if you're looking for something out of the mainstream we think you'll agree that Von is wonderfully refreshing.
