Hester van Eeghen: A World of Bags examines the work and 40-year career of the Dutch designer, offering a unique insight into one of the most important designers in the Dutch design tradition.
Hester van Eeghen (1958-2021) pioneered the use of bright colors in her bag and shoe designs. Her iconic creations were internationally acclaimed and are in the collections of several museums. Since the 1980s her bags and shoes have been established in the firmament of Dutch design. The book explores her artistic design process, her sources of inspiration ranging from classical music to origami, her skillful use of materials and her influence on the design world.
Over the course of her career Van Eeghen created a thousand designs for her own brand, collaborated with other prestigious brands and produced countless unique pieces for charities. Her work is characterised by geometric patterns, bright colours, a sense of humour and a penchant for versatility in use.
