ORLAN has been writing every night since she was a teenager, and this autobiography describes her personal journey, from her birth in Saint-Étienne in a working-class environment to her loves, setbacks, and traumas, to her life as an artist on the French and international scene, where she has rubbed shoulders with some of the most important figures.
ORLAN is always written in capital letters. Her performances and other works are not bound by any one material, artistic practice, way of saying, technique or technology, old or new. ORLAN says things that are very important for our time, questioning social phenomena with a critical distance.
