Already a sellout in Germany where Slanted is based, the publisher's latest release takes the reader on a path less travelled: the work and daily-life of Korean designers. What Should I Say – About Seoul provides a unique insight into South Korean society and the Seoul work experience: bright, brash, futuristic, but also apparently grim, grinding and coloured by the ongoing pandemic that has wiped out so much social interaction.
The book draws parallels with the experience of Korean-German designers which underlines a view even Germany is not a country that necessarily 'figured out' work life in its 2020s incarnation. It argues that the modern workplace can be a very mixed bag at times and bad working conditions plague the creative industry worldwide. Speaking about these experiences allows those involved to feel less isolated and work towards change, so it is not all doom and gloom.
