The Believer is a well-established and distinctive US bi-monthly literature, arts, and culture magazine that also makes a concerted effort to fight against elitism in these areas. There's between a hiatus of sorts between 2016 and 2017, but it's just roared back.

Published by McSweeney’s, a renowned publishing company based in San Francisco, it is a five-time National Magazine Award finalist that delivers first class long-form journalism and essays, reviews of not necessarily current books, and interviews that are intimate, frank and also very long (in a good way). It also features intricate illustrations by Tony Millionaire backed up by a rotating cast of guest artists, poems, a comics and regular columns by Nick Hornby and Daniel Handler.

Each issue is 128 pages, printed on recycled heavy-stock paper and, according to the editors, ‘suitable for archiving, framing in a very thick frame, or reading in the tub’.
