The Atlas des Régions Naturelles is a new series that aims to document the 450 natural regions or ‘lands’ constituting the territory of France.
In a set of handsome volumes devoting equal scrutiny to all geographical and cultural entities such as Artois, Morvan or Béarn, the authors Eric Tabuchi and Nelly Monnier indicate the characteristic ways we have occupied the landscape, inhabiting it and shaping it, taking in the roads, houses, shops, and activities, the typography of road signs and the names of villages.
The first volume is composed of 16 chapters, each divided into three regions followed by a theme. It is heavily illustrated with more than 650 images across 384 pages, completed by an index map at the back of the book.
