Collecting a wealth of ephemera documenting what is thought to be the world's oldest off-road cycling club (est. 1955), The Rough-Stuff Fellowship Archive is an absolute essential for anyone interested in the activity's charming, difficult and glorious past.
Containing vintage maps and well over 200 pages of photography, the Archive provides an entertaining look the past of British outdoor culture, 'a time when', in the words of the publishers, 'you might set set off on a club ride wearing a shirt and tie, a deerstalker or a bobble hat, and no ride was complete without a stop to brew up some tea and smoke a pipe.' While 'chaps' certainly abound in these images, it also highlights the exploits of many intrepid women in involved in the early days of bikepacking.
An entertaining and inspiring read.
